Is it common for the dog-ear boards in my recently installed wood privacy fence to warp? The fence is less than a year old and severe warping has occured.

This boards sound like the cheap boards that some hardware companies sell. The board is not a redwood or cedar board. Its wood is,,,,not sure,,,I have seen the boards,,,the stores use to call them .white boards..that have a redwood stain on them...now I think the stores are calling them cedar with a stain...these boards are going all over the place.they are not straight,,they are cupped and twisted..they would make a great rock band yet not recommended for your fence
