I have always lived in the country. Moving to town. Want a fence around back yard. Should I put fence within my land boundariesor right on the edge? Am I supposed to "weedeat" on both sides of the fence? It would just seem wrong to put up a fence and cause the neighbors to have to cut the grass that grows on thier side. Extra work for them.
Answers:
1First, check with your city code, because there may be restrictions on what kind of fence you can erect.
You should trim on both sides of your fence. You may want to have a casual conversation with your neighbor about it, letting them know you will be coming into their yard to do so. It is also polite to go the extra step of cleaning up the trimmed grass. Many people trim and then mow so that those longer blades are collected with the other grass trimmings.
Unless you are aligning your fence with your house or another building, it is customary to put it on the property line.
