Can I put up a 6 foot fence against a 4 foot chainlink fence (common fence). I want a 6 foot fence they dont? | |
My neighbors are anti 6 foot fence and I want a fence for privacy. I am installing the fence as if it was freestanding fence (with post) it's just up against the 4 foot fence. I think they called the city? Should I be worried?
Answers:
1If the fence is completely on your property and is in good repair (not an eyesore) you should be fine.

You may be in trouble. If the fence obstructs their view coming out of their driveway. If they cannot see the street as well as before. My suggestion, keep peace with nieghbors make the fence just barely 4 feet, then you do not have to look at the chain link fence, and your neighbors dont have to look at 2 feet of fence over their chain link , that will have a ununiform look.

if you build the fence on your property line and follow proper local ordinance, it is good. my local ordinance states that any fence under 6 feet can be constructed on my property line without a permit, if it is larger than 6 ft tall, a variance would be required as well as a permit. and as long it does not obstruct traffic if its on a corner lot.
