errecting a fence near the curb and street

I live on a conner lot in the city of Los Angeles. My house is a conner lot. I want to extend my side yard by moving my fence toward the curb. How tight can I get? 1'; 2'?

I wanted to see the answer. I think code in California is 3 feet and 20 feet back from the house. This is where the fence is between two driveways. I am not sure. I am going now to lower a fence , I built over 3 feet between two driveways. This is required due to safety. If the fence doesnt obstruct anyones view maybe your ok. In some areas may need a permit, sometimes the fence will face the street and not a nieghbor's house this may make the fence ok to have. If one nieghbor complains to county or city.....
