what is the correct way to make a dog ear fence look nice when going up hill slighty?

our back yard goes up slightly and we are putting in a dog ear fence. should we cut the tops to make the fence look straight? should put all the panels touching the ground? shoule we allow the boards to move up with the slant (sometimes it isa 1 inch difference). we just want our fence to look nice..help!
