You are planning to build a wooden fence around your house and property in order to protect it from unwanted visitors but you are not very sure about how to build a wooden fence?
As the wooden fence will be part of your garden and it will make a big part of its overall impression, then very first thing you should do is to decide on the type of a fence, meaning that you should make yourself clear how it should look like (height, color, material etc).
Before going to the shop or ordering the material you should measure the perimeter of the area you are going to border in order to get a clear understanding of how much material you will need.
If you start building a fence make sure that there are no underground cables or pipelines in order to avoid the situation where you have to interrupt building the fence if you have already started it.
When you are building a fence you should be aware of the general rule of a thumb that says that one third of the lengths of a post should be in the ground. It is also advisable to put corner, end and gate posts even deeper in the ground to ensure that the fence will be strong enough.
